A&M University - Central Texas baccalaureate degree in Nursing.

Note: Texas A&M University - Central Texas accepts a maximum of 68 college-level hours in transfer towards a

baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their

degrees.

Note: Texas A&M University - Central Texas requires that all courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or

better leading to a BSN degree.

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students

should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising

Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS

Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for

assistance.

General Education and Course Requirements

A&M-Central Texas is an upper-level university, therefore, the core curriculum/general education courses and non-nursing

courses must be taken at another institution. Core curricula may also be accepted from other institutions. 

Admissions Requirements

Program Admissions Requirements

Admission to A&M-Central Texas;

Have a current unencumbered Texas Registered Nurse's (RN) license or of a Compact State, or be in the last semester

of an Associates of Nursing Degree program; 

Have completed the non-nursing courses for the BSN degree, exception, may have six (6) hours remaining,

Have earned a grade of "C" or higher in all courses leading to a BSN degree,

Complete an Application to the Nursing Program form

How to Apply for Admission to the Nursing Program:

Submit the Application to the Nursing Program.

Submit unofficial transcript(s) for review in applying to the program. Official transcript(s) must be submitted to the

university for all courses to be transferred in for credit. Provide official copies of transcript(s) from each previously

attended college or university. See the "Official College Transcripts" page for additional details.

Prior to enrolling in the program meet with faculty advisor in the Department of Nursing to develop a Student

Educational Plan, applicants must complete all non-nursing courses listed in the degree requirements. Exception of up

to six semester credit hours may be made in consultation with program faculty.  

International applicants and applicants with foreign credentials must adhere to additional requirements

Pay close attention to course sequencing and availability at Texas A&M University - Central Texas as it will affect the

time it takes to complete the degree program.

Transfer of Credit

Community college courses may not transfer into TAMUCT as upper-division courses (3000-4000 level), even though

TAMUCT may have an upper-division course with exactly the same name and description. Community college courses may

not be used to fulfill the upper-division requirement for graduation at TAMUCT. However, the course may be used as a

substitute for an upper-division course with an approved substitution form signed by the chair and dean. 

Affordability

Based on 2019-2020 reported average tuition and fees, Texas A&M University-Central Texas is the second most affordable

institution in the state of Texas for full-time undergraduate students.  Students are not only able to take advantage of

guaranteed tuition plans to control the cost of their education, but A&M-Central Texas's Bachelor Bonus caps tuition and

Texas Education Code § 54.014 specifies that resident undergraduate students who initially enrolled fall 1999 and later

may be subject to a higher tuition rate for attempting excessive hours at any public institution of higher education while

classified as a resident student for tuition purposes. For more information, please see
